A Quick Thought on 3rd Places

I walked into Starbucks this evening to catch up on a little reading and writing while I wait for my husband to finish work. (We're both working different schedules in Nashville today, but only have 1 car... call it what you want, we're reducing our carbon footprint!) It's 5:33pm and the place is PACKED. I was surprised. I'm here squished in the corner of this popular place, sharing a not-so-comfy couch with 2 other people sipping their seasonal drink and typing away on, well, whatever they're typing away at.

3rd places intrigue me. Not home, not work... but the 3rd place. It's where "we" find ourselves when we're not at places #1 or #2. An interesting thing though, "they" say life happens in these said 3rd places. Community (of some sort) thrives here.

Where's your 3rd place? Where do you find yourself when you're not at home or work? If your answer is: church, I encourage you to switch it up a bit. Get yourself amongst some who [maybe] don't know Christ. Where can you go and share community with those who are [maybe, for the most part] unbelieving?

Challenge yourself to take up the 3rd place challenge this week and share in conversation, life, and community with someone you don't know in a place you frequently go. You might be surprised at how blessed you (& the other person) might walk away.
