Living Thanksgiving: Part II – Perfect Timing
(Continued from yesterday's post...)
“… The next day, I again found out I was not pregnant. I spent some time in honest prayer, expressing my disappointment but also praising God because I still felt assured by The Long List of God’s Answers to My Prayers, that He did indeed have perfect timing. Later that same day I received a message from my friend in Kiev. She told me how God brought me to her attention three times in one day, first through random memory of our college years together, second through the letter I had sent her (weeks before), and third through the video chat session she had with her friend (the same friend I met the day before).
She prayed that God would bless me and my family, because he obviously was thinking of me on this specific day and calling people to pray for me. I was so blessed by the way God showed me he was thinking of me, reassuring me that he did, indeed, have the clock of this universe in His hands. He timed a young woman’s thoughts, a letter’s arrival, a chance meeting of two people sharing a common friend, and a video chat session all for the purpose of encouraging me on a very hard day when I needed to know he was listening.
Now, if that still seems like it could be explained as ‘coincidence,’ God took it one step further.
Two days later, I traveled with my daughter and my sister to a small town in Oregon to visit my family. We attended Sunday morning service with my grandparents and after a refreshing time of worship, a guest speaker shared his testimony. As I listened, I soon discovered he, too, was from Kiev, Ukraine. Not only was he from Kiev, but he worked with a partnering ministry of my friend serving in Kiev. As if that weren’t enough… he actually knew my friend. I was blown away.”

What an amazing story of God’s perfect timing. Isn’t it awe inspiring to hear of how he who designed the entire universe can cause a collision of certain people at just the right time in each other’s lives? The same God, who carefully crafted our world thousands of years ago while tending to every minute detail, is the same amazing God who cares about each and every fleeting moment of our life today. Anger and despair associated with disappointment, joy and thanksgiving bursting forth from momentous occasions, fear and anxiety that emerges when we dwell in the unknown. Everything matters to him.
And while we cannot fully understand why the Creator chooses to operate, interact, and intervene when he does, we can rest assured that he who exists outside of time and space alone possesses all authority to rule over both expanses. He is fully empowered to simultaneously control the timing of all things should he choose to do so. What an amazing God!
“He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings [the things and events of time and their definite periods] or fixed years and seasons (their critical niche in time), which the Father has appointed (fixed and reserved) by His own choice and authority and personal power” (Acts 1: 7 AMP).
