Our Journey Together

So it begins.

Today is Ash Wednesday. Another season of Lent is upon us.

Ahead lies 40 days of journeying with Christ and with each other. This season is often marked by the sacrifices we make in order to draw closer to Jesus unto the day of his great sacrifice. Some give up chocolate, meat, television, over-priced coffee (or any caffeinated stimulant for that matter), sweets, and so on.

What will you sacrifice this season?

I urge you to not "participate" in this ancient practice for sake of repetition or religion. Seek the Lord, ask him what he desires you do away with over the next 40 days. Don't stop there. Consider the more important element of this act, that in the absence of what you favor, you instead immerse yourself in his presence for his favor. Don't cut away from your flesh without seeking his Spirit to restore! When you're craving coffee, drink in Christ. When you're in want of a good ol' T.V. show, spend time soaking in his Word. When you desire something sweet, enter into his sweet and fulfilling presence.

He will not disappoint.

Blessings on you as you journey to the cross, before the feet of Jesus. He is the King of Kings!
