Pray Without Ceasing
“If my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
It’s a promise from God. The first evidence of revival is that God’s people pray. God will hear their prayer and answer them by showing compassion for His people.
“Rejoice always, praying without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Praying always to abide in the presence of the Father…continually asking for His grace. Praying all kinds of prayers throughout the day…continuously crying out for His blessings for our nation…our communities…our neighbors…our families...our children.
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.” – John 5:7
The healthy life of the believer in Christ is one of unceasing prayer…consciously or unconsciously he lives in continuing dependence. His asking is unbroken. He has boldness in his prayer. He loves Jesus. We can fulfill our calling and bear much fruit by praying…praying…praying. Our prayer is proof of our faith and our relationship with Him.
“Very early in the morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” – Mark 1:35 (NIV)
In His life of secret prayer, Jesus is our example. Your morning watch…in your secret closet…privately starting the day with God…Jesus…the Holy Spirit…is critical. It sets the tone of the day. The mind is clear…the body is rested…your spirit is free…free to be in God’s presence…free to read His Word…to study…to talk with Jesus…to listen. Do this as Jesus did…before your day in the world begins.
A heart given up to God in prayer, in your secret closet, is more precious than church time. Secret, fervent, believing prayer is at the root of all godliness…holiness…love.
